Los imperatives (imperativos) son una de las estructuras más fáciles y útiles del inglés. Se usan para dar órdenes, indicaciones, sugerencias o pedir algo de manera amable.
Lo mejor de todo es que no necesitas pronombres ni tiempos verbales complicados. Solo se usa el verbo en su forma base (infinitivo sin “to”), al inicio de la oración.
✅ Imperativos afirmativos
Se usan para decirle a alguien que haga algo.
Estructura:
(Verb) + complemento
Ejemplos:
- Sit down. (Siéntate / Siéntense)
- Open your book.
- Turn off the lights.
❌ Imperativos negativos
Se usan para decirle a alguien que no haga algo.
Estructura:
Don’t + verb (informal / común)
Do not + verb (más enfático o formal)
Ejemplos:
- Don’t touch that.
- Don’t run.
- Do not forget your keys.
🤝 Imperativos corteses con please
Si quieres sonar amable y respetuoso, añade please al inicio o al final.
Ejemplos:
- Close the door, please.
- Please, be quiet.
- Pass me the salt, please.
👥 Imperativos con Let’s (para incluirte en la acción)
Cuando quieres invitar o sugerir algo donde tú también participas, usas let’s (contracción de let us).
Estructura:
Let’s + verb
Ejemplos:
- Let’s go to the park.
- Let’s eat something.
- Let’s study together.
Forma negativa:
- Let’s not fight.
- Let’s not shout.
